Key ideas
Understand the difference between identity DNA, parentage verification, testing a specific variant and clinical screening. For a simple recessive condition, clear, carrier and affected genotypes have distinct meanings. Other inheritance models require different interpretation.
Plan matings using health, temperament, pedigrees, relatedness and diversity together. Preserve original reports. LOF procedures, parent identification and litter registrations have their own requirements; a show title does not replace health follow-up.
