Becoming a dog breeder: a free learning resource
A free introduction to dog breeding in France: 12 learning modules, practical preparation and a downloadable French workbook from La Tribu des Airaudes.
Prepare before starting
This personal learning resource covers legislation, facilities, welfare, hygiene, nutrition, genetics, reproduction, whelping, socialisation, records, puppy transfers and the economics of running a breeding home.
The English pages provide an introduction to each module. The detailed 42-page workbook, practical worksheets, assessment and full French lessons are available in French. The resource is for personal study and is not a recognised qualification, ACACED replacement or certification.
Learn, document and practise
Use the modules to list the decisions and documents you need for your own project. Practical skills must be learned with appropriate supervision. Official texts and instructions from the authorities or your veterinarian take precedence for a particular case.
