Key ideas
Compare foods by life stage, whether they are complete, energy density and how they suit the dog. Growing puppies and nursing females have different needs from adults at maintenance. Monitor growth and body condition, not only the amount in the bowl.
Record the food, amounts, weights and digestive observations. Plan gradual transitions. Home-prepared meals require a properly balanced recipe and suitable supplementation; added ingredients do not automatically correct an unbalanced diet.
