Eyes: Collie eye anomaly and the retina
CEA and retinal DNA tests concern specific variants. A clinical eye examination remains complementary and can identify findings a DNA panel cannot detect. Check examination dates and the identity of the dog.
MDR1 and DM answer different questions
MDR1 concerns sensitivity to certain medicines. Share the actual result with your veterinarian before treatment. DM testing concerns a different genetic risk: a risk genotype is not a diagnosis that a dog will develop neurological disease.
Joints, coagulation and individual DNA results
Hip radiographs, eye checks and breed-relevant DNA tests such as von Willebrand disease contribute different information. Read each status separately and use it in the context of the mating and family history.
